Actualyze vs TrueFoundry
Actualyze. Every model and every budget gets its own approver, and finance closes the month on one statement.
TrueFoundry is an AI gateway within a wider AI platform, and Actualyze is the AI gateway and AI governance platform for the enterprise. Actualyze routes approvals to the people responsible, so teams get their models without a central admin queue.
Competitor facts checked against TrueFoundry's documentation on .
In short
- Actualyze. Access requests go straight to each model's own approver. A TrueFoundry Model Account Manager grants access to every model in an account.
- Actualyze. Finance reviews and settles one monthly statement across team budgets. TrueFoundry's dashboard shows cost per team, exported as CSV.
- Actualyze. Routing stays current as models change, with nothing to retune. TrueFoundry routes each virtual model by weight, priority, latency, or complexity.

Side by side
TrueFoundry is an AI platform whose AI Gateway gives applications one endpoint for models from many providers. TrueFoundry admins set up model accounts, budget rules, and guardrail policies on that gateway.

| One model, many providers | One model through any provider the caller can use | A TrueFoundry virtual model can list several providers For example azure/gpt-4o and openai/gpt-4o behind one model name. |
| Routing across models | Sizes each request, picks the cheapest model strong enough A Virtual Model, one name over several models, picks only among models the caller can already use. | Weight, priority, latency, or complexity routing Each TrueFoundry virtual model uses one strategy over real catalog models. |
| Provider prompt caches | Stays on the cached model unless moving saves money | Sticky routing keeps a session on one model Opt-in for a set window with weight routing. Latency and complexity routing pin sessions automatically. |

| Who approves access and spend | Each model names its own approver. Budget Managers own spend | Model Account Managers grant access to a model account A Model Account User can use every model in the account. A request and approval step isn't documented. |
| Budgets and limits | Budgets nest. A call past the limit is rejected | Every matching budget rule must allow the request Tenant and team rules match users, agents, models, provider accounts, or metadata. |

| Protection | ||
| On from the first request | Personal data masked from the first request The default guardrail masks personal data in prompts and responses, and nobody can delete it. | Guardrails apply once a policy attaches them A policy with no conditions covers all requests. |

Actualyze turns a month of AI spend into one statement finance settles.
Every Actualyze call charges one budget, the one its API key was created with, so every dollar lands where finance expects it. Team budgets nest under a department budget, and their limits together can't exceed the parent's. At month end Actualyze drafts the statement, with a row for each budget and its cost-center code. Finance reviews it and marks it settled. Governance that finance can't close the month on isn't governance.
TrueFoundry enforces budget rules and reports cost per team.
TrueFoundry budget rules match users, agents, models, provider accounts, or metadata, and every matching rule must allow a request. An enforced rule rejects requests once usage crosses its limit. For chargeback, the TrueFoundry metrics dashboard shows cost per team and exports it as CSV.

Actualyze reads every request and picks the cheapest model strong enough for it.
An Actualyze Virtual Model is one name for several models. Actualyze trains the routing model that sizes each request and keeps it current as models change, so a new model needs no new signals and no retuning. Each model runs over every provider route the caller can use, and a standby route picks up the call if the serving one fails.
TrueFoundry routes each virtual model with one strategy.
A TrueFoundry virtual model is one name for real catalog models, routed by weight, priority, latency, or complexity. TrueFoundry's complexity routing sorts each request into simple, medium, or complex, by fixed signals in the prompt or an LLM you nominate, and sends it to that tier's target.
Actualyze. Priced at what you really pay, down to the call.
Actualyze serves a new model from its first call and shows finance the exposure, never a $0.
Actualyze prices each route, meaning one model through one provider, at your negotiated rate once you confirm it, or at the list price until then. When a model has no published price anywhere, Actualyze keeps it running and flags the cost as unknown until someone confirms a rate, so no model looks free on the month's totals.
TrueFoundry sets a price on each model entry.
A TrueFoundry virtual model can put one model on several providers, such as azure/gpt-4o and openai/gpt-4o. Each provider's model entry carries its own price. TrueFoundry fills in a public cost from its open-source pricing catalog, or you enter a private cost, such as a negotiated contract rate.
Six questions every AI gateway should answer live
If your AI gateway can't tell you who approved a model or what last month cost each team, it's just moving traffic. Put these questions to every vendor on your list, and ask to see each answer working in the product. Actualyze answers every one today, and each comes with a check you can run in your own trial.
Who approves a team's access to each model?
The leading delegation and approval system for AI spend starts here. In Actualyze, each model names its own approver.
Request a model that needs approval as a team member, and check who receives the request and where the decision is recorded.
What decides which model answers each request?
In Actualyze, a routing model we train sizes each request and picks the cheapest model strong enough, the best model routing in the field.
Send an easy question and a hard one to one Virtual Model, then see which model each was routed to, and why.
What happens to a call when its budget runs out?
Actualyze rejects it before any model is contacted, so a budget is a real limit and never a surprise on the bill.
Set a small test budget and confirm the next request is rejected once it reaches its limit.
Does an unknown cost ever show up as $0?
An unknown cost is never $0 in Actualyze, which marks it unpriced and flags it for FinOps, so no spend hides behind a zero.
Connect a third-party endpoint with no catalog price, call it, and check the call reads unpriced, not $0.
What is protected before anyone writes a policy?
Personal data is masked from the first request in Actualyze, in prompts and responses, by a default guardrail nobody can delete.
Open a new workspace's guardrails before writing any policy, and confirm the default guardrail is already enforcing.
Can finance close the month on AI spend?
Finance closes the month on AI spend with one Actualyze statement, a row for each budget, reviewed and then settled.
Generate a statement for a month with traffic, then move it from draft to reviewed to settled.
